Sharing a Smile

Topic: InspirationalPoems

The misting rain keeps coming down;
Dampness creeps in causing a frown.
It's hard to keep smiling when all seems dreary,
But start up a 'fire' and all becomes cheery.
Just because it rains on the rich and the poor,
It just gives us a reason to smile much more.
The weather outside maybe wet and cold,
But a smile warms up both the young and old.
Not only that - it doesn't cost a thing.
Someone may just need what a smile can bring.
So am I talking in rhyme and circles to you?
Don't you realize all that a little smile can do?
Someone may be fighting the battle to live,
But a friend can stand by with a smile to give.
Encouragement and care will be there, too.
It can all begin with a smile from you.
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.
Is merriness shown through a frown or a grin?
Loneliness abounds all over the world today.
So what can we do -- become their friend -- okay?
It begins with a smile and a "How do you do?"
Then stand there and listen and let your heart hear, too.
Even while the misting rain continues to fall,
A friendship is forming - tearing down a scarred wall.
So what if it rains -- it doesn't have to be dreary!
Smiling and talking to a friend keeps life more cheery!

Yes, smiles are worth their weight in gold.. you are correct, they cost nothing, and creates much. A smile can adorn the soul of yourself and others and smiles do not deprive strength. A smile given can last forever on ones memory, producing a signature of love for family, friends, healthy individuals and those affected with disease or ill. To not smile can cause uneasy rest.
A smile is rest to the weary, it is sunshine to the soul, to the sad, to the happy, and it is the best remedy for trouble.

Here are 3 quotes from an unknown author...

*A smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is no earthly good to anybody till it is given away!

*If someone is to tired to give you a smile, leave one of yours.

*For, nobody needs a smile so much as those who have none to give.

Lovely poem Linda, I send you my smile :D

My mother always taught me to keep smiling, it is like a boomerang, in due time, someone else will come along and smile to you...pass on the smiles, everyone, and soon one will come your way. Like laughter, I do believe a smile is catching... Raquel Leah :D
