Memories

Topic: goodbyepoetry

As I see girls gossiping,
I think to myself, "That used to be me."
As I see guys flirting,
I think to myself, "I used to be so bouncy."
There's no way around the memories,
They follow me every day.
People just don't realize,
That I'm not okay.
No matter how much I laugh,
Or seem like I'm having fun.
The truth is,
I've lost a ton.
I've lost a lot of friends,
Who I thought truly cared.
Sure, I've made some more friends,
But they can't be compared.
It's not about the popularity,
It's about the things we shared.
It's not about the guys,
It's about how many people stared.
I never thought it'd end this way,
They left me in the dust.
The ones who've known me longer,
Know my laughter has begun to rust.
My family is getting worried,
About my falling grades.
I tell them it's okay,
And go on with the charade.
I no longer cry at night,
I've become a stronger girl.
I have resorted to my journal,
And let the memories uncurl.
