hours turn into days without word I am lonely
without you strung out in the gray haven of sleep
where I dream and hear your voice in my head
are you there I keep asking - you don't answer
I'm lost in the chaos of your life
an after thought on a Tuesday morning
when you have time to talk and I sigh
wanting more than can ever be mine
I think of you and wonder do you feel the same way
circling for a way out - a crack in the veneer of polite marriage
keeping our promises without smiling
breaking our promises with a smile
see how easy it is when nobody knows
you carry the chaos within you
and I choke back the tears without you

The first three lines reminded me somewhat of Yeats - no mean feat! Easy it is to keep our personal woes from others, but it's not so easy to keep them from ourselves....
