Why I Loved You [and why i still do]

Contributed by Bohemian_with_a_pen on Friday, 11th November 2005 @ 06:06:29 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Your favourite worn out reading chair,
and the smell of your pillows,
the silly games we used to play,
and how'd you'd let me win at domino's,
but would trip me over when we played twiser,
and always fall down on me.
how your body felt so warm on mine
and you fit me to a T.
how your strong arms kept me safe,
even when i felt so weak,
and i knew you thought the very best of me,
you didnt even have to speak.
during movies you'd check i wasn't scared,
and hold me if i was
how you'd insist on paying lunch
and flowers, "just because".
how i always got you of trouble,
and we'd both pretend that i was mad,
(even though we knew very well,
that rescuing you made me glad].
you knew just how to comfort me,
and make me laugh when i was down.
how we'd pretend we were millionaires
or lay-buy m'n'ms in town.
your silly "i'm a pirate" voice,
and the limp in your bad leg.
the longing for a family of your own,
[i never knew if they were missing or dead]
how even when i'm lonely,
our memories get me through.
how i'm still your special girl,
and the way i'll always love you.
