i have spent some dark nights in this prison i have made
and i have spent most of my days standing in the shade
ive wondered astray finding my way off track
and it feels like im fading fading into black
i have loved and i have lost
done some crimes and paid the cost
ive thrown away some things ill never get back
and it feels like im fading fading into black
i have been some places and seen some sights
like the tennesse hills and the big city lights
but lately ive been traveling with this monkey on my back
and it feels like im fading fading into black
i can see the angel of death
he's waiting for my dying breath
im not ready for that long cadillac
still im fading fading into black

...it flows nicely...feels like a song lyric...the repitition of 'fading...fading into black,' is effective...
...sorry you feel that way, though...
