Summer Mornings turn to Restless Winter Nights

tiny illuminators wind
around a mangled door
the shifting feet of dancers
spin lucid shadows on the floor
awoken from the startling vision
by a sound too shrill to hear
from deep inside my restless mind
he tries to ease my fear
burning eyes roam a stretch of leg
a modesty is lost
meet the seeker at the door
but tell me of the cost
this is what we’ve learned to use
a dawn, a breaking day
as a needless excuse to linger
and get lost along the way
