Dancing in a masquerade ball
Like a retold Cinderella,
Gone from nothing to something
In the blink of an eye
Only this time the stories sadder,
For the shoe doesn’t fit.
So stitch her up with changes sutures,
Cut and hem, make her smiles broader,
Make her waist a little smaller,
Alter the shoe size, switch it to seven,
Legs are thicker, and eyes are brighter.
The perfect girl is your destination
So thread beauty’s needle,
Weave the splendid stitches,
Face the result with a smile,
And as you see don’t let it fade,
For your creation is me,
It’s him, it’s her, it’s you
Still the same as the start,
But with the mask removed,
And the soul emerged.
Still dancing in a masquerade ball,
But now it’s midnight and all costumes,
Have been taken, stolen, hidden, and what’s left?
It’s you, it’s him, it’s her, it’s me,
And us? We're good enough, you see?
