“The Silent People”
Though we seldom voice our opinions and dreams
And we tend to blend rather than stand out
Can you not still hear our silent screams?
To be heard must one always jump and shout?
Silence for us can be a solace and a drape
From a world gone mad, run amuck
A way to avoid possible political rape
From some opinionated smuck
Our silence is our security, our shelter from the storm
But inside we have voices longing to be heard
Yearning and praying for the world to transform
That “to each his own” not be viewed completely absurd
We all bleed, hurt and have many times cried
We love, share, laugh and do heroic things
Wanting to give flight to our dreams with wings
Yet with fortitude we face things in voiceless stride
Our race, religion, orientation and beliefs are under attack
Our dreams, our goals, even our manner of dress,
We must look forward ,yet carefully watch our back
What others don’t know they will hazard to guess
Whispers, stares, and jeers we endure
And in silence we walk our lonely path
Our goal to be accepted and feel secure
But by silence we avoid the worlds wrath
While we proudly applaud our more vocal twins
Admire their courage to not hide their light
Silently we stare at them in awe with proud grins
For they possess the power to move forward the plight.
The silent people grow in numbers each and every day
Perhaps enough to someday change, shakeup or overthrow
Closed minded religious leaders, racial prejudice, and anti-gay
For the betterment of human kind, sure but slow.

I really enjoyed reading this write. I agree on your voice. Although silience it appears to be, your write here gives it sound indeed. I believe someday a long someday, until not just our country, but the world can come to terms of its own demise and face a future of peace and equality of all. I know it will not be in my lifetime. Im 41 now, I feel by the time I near or be retired, the USA government may be overthrown. I just love to read thought provoking writes, as yours mirrors many of my own thoughts. Good write.

A thought provoking poem.
The only thing I can offer is to be more plublic--enmasses--
Go to these various religons and churches in the open until you are accepted.
Truth is God seeks sinners not the saved--
Wheather this is sinful is not for us to say.
God is Love and accepts ALL
Our only prayer is to ask Him to lead us where He wants us to be.
"Judge not unless you be judged" Jesus
