Gloomy Day

Contributed by Man_On_High on Monday, 7th November 2005 @ 11:56:17 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

The melancholy days have come
the saddest of the year
of wailing winds and naked woods
the meadows brown and sere

heaped in the hollows of the grove
the autumn leaves are dead
they only rustle to a gust
and to the rabbit's tread

the robin and the wren have flown
the cardinal and the jay
while from the tree tops calls the crow
throughout the gloomy day

Billy

oh Billy this is mournful yet so beatiful.
You captured the way fall feels to a tee when you live in places that winter is coming soon.
I used to feel this same way. A little different in the desert now....
hugs
Michelle

Thanks luv-
It's a bit ironic that autumn happens to be
my favorite time of year..lol
though the desert..(any time of year)
sounds just as lovely..
and so mysterious...

Thanks Hun..for the time and comment.

As Always-

Billy

True poetic talent displayed through even the gloomiest of seasons. The imagery cast describes autumn in every detail. The magical colours, the fallen leaves, bare trees and the ever so naked woods.
You capture the sheer essence of everything you write about so well. If only I possessed half the talent you have dearest Billy. It's a treasured experience to read such remarkable work from an incredibly skilled and gifted poet. Hats off to you my dear friend.
Much love from ur fan,
*sue*

Never having experienced autumn, I can only imagine what it is like..and this poem gives me a good insight into fall...
I know from pics I've seen that it would be my fav time of year.... especially since I have a 'thing' for dry branches...
Lovely write...
Jenni
