A Special Gift I Received…

Contributed by Rose on Sunday, 6th November 2005 @ 06:58:01 PM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

We met on a warm fall day
You out for a walk, enjoying the fall scene
I, out in my little yard, gardening where weeds lay
I seen you, said hi, the day being so serene
We talked for a bit, being neighbors and all
A few days later, you called to chat
We arranged to meet, a walk so casual
You were very nice, you tipping your hat
So short of a time, events soon evolved
You being so thoughtful, caring, protective gent
We both gave each other, unleashed feelings of passion to involve
We shared something so beautiful; all those unsure feelings went
So gentle you are; you gave so much, perhaps maybe, we’ve gone too fast
I know that feeling you have, in love you are, changing things around
However; it’s overwhelming, the feelings not the same for me, to last
For I cannot give you all you desire, as you should have, my feelings too unsound
I have to say to you this time, which I would be taking a fragile heart
That you have, I can only to be your friend, for this is how I feel
You need more then I can give, I feel too far apart
In my feelings, this is not fair to you, for it would not be real
There are no regrets, for you made me feel so like a woman
What you shared, always be treasured, so much you have to offer, indeed
Given so much, yet I do not have the feelings to return, a bridge to span
Being intimate I was not ready, friendship is more the need
It’s not anyone’s fault, it was meant to be, for you opened your self
Now, you are ready to move on, you have so many inner treasures
I wish you not to put your opened mind and heart on a shelf
Its time to keep it free, keep healing, keep caring, long your heart measures
Friend’s move those who need healing, the past no longer mourned
You gave me so much to see inside myself, you gave yourself the power again, to love
The path one chooses in life, cast in so many directions, some new, some worn
I cannot say I love you, but I can say I do care, friendship in God Above
You are a gift; one I do treasure, you mentioned I awakened you
Then stay this way, for this is the way to healing, as I want you to be
As God intended my gentle wisdom to see you thru
I am not that special one, but as a friend, I am one of your paths for you see
Your way to heal past all your pains, be there in part
For I will always be your friend, always in your heart

Always to you John,

I could not give John the love he desired, for I did not feel the same as him. It was not fair, to him, if I kept on trying, when I just did not feel what I needed to feel, and give him love in return. Therefore, I wrote this in hopes I will not lose him as a friend, but I know it will break his heart. It is already so fragile. I wished I did not have to say this to him. I know in time, thru this, he will become stronger, as he will understand my true measure of friendship, and glad it did not go too much further. However, it will take time for him to heal, I pray for him, and Gods blessings for both of us.

This is a beautifull write, well done. A couple of small errors though. The grammer is wrong in line 4, it should read- 'I saw you' not 'I seen you'. Though I do understand we often speak in slang, it detracts from such a lovely sentiment. Also 'thru' should be spelt through. I do hope your John understands the gift he has in your friendship. Blessings to you both.
