I remember your eyes, the colour of the sea,
When you held your hand out to me,
I remember the look in your ocean eyes,
When we both promise to break from this and 'fly'.
We would fly away from our nest,
To touch the sky,to live in zest,
To skim the surface of a flowing river,
To listen and brave through any thunder.
We would find the sun golden arrows,
We would track down every single rainbow,
We would circle snowy mountain peaks,
We would make majestic beasts timid and meek.
Dreams and promises to be made,
You and I vow to be among the great,
To break away from our sorrowful existence,
Where alcohol and tears are a constant.
We would start anew and forget,
How liquor tastes, how high we can get,
With dreams and promises like these,we could thoroughly explore life,
Only in continuous hopes and dreams,we could end our strife.

Such an inspiring uplifting write. Yes there is so much more to life . It takes alot of guts and determination to kick the habit.
A sensational poem filled with high hopes and determination. Well done and may your days always be bright.

A beautiful work! Your poetry flows a lot easier in this one than in your earlier ones, I think. Once again, I love your choice of words, they amaze me each time.
Take care.
