“She Sits Alone"
There’s a stranger in this room
The pretty one with a pretty smile….frown
Where’s her heart gone?
What has she lost? What has she found?
There’s something quiet beneath her screams
Something no one sees…
Underneath her dyed black hair
and the six inch patent leather on her feet.
Maybe someone tried to pull her through
Just too many times
Maybe somebody tried to mold her into
A shape that just wasn’t her size
What lies beneath her pinstripe jacket?
What story comes from that cigarette?
Besides bones that ache from her own neglect
And the smoke inside of her chest
That shade of deep red says it all.
She wears that lipstick well
She’s kept those memories in her make-up bag
With a couple four-letter words to spell.
Paris? Or Provocateur?
Why does she cross her legs so?
Does she not know that the world awaits her?
Is this why she sits alone?
