The Saddest Thing That Never Was...

I pass my time with thoughts of you while living for the dream,
Still hoping for the instant when to you I have been seen,
Engraving moments on my heart each time that you’re around,
While knowing that we’ll never be, to you my soul is bound.
I hunger for a love denied, that no other can sustain,
All the while enduring hell through this self inflicted pain,
This game of love’s an awful curse and something I can’t win,
‘Cause the saddest thing that never was, is a love that’s never been.

You know Doug, the saddest thing is never having loved at all...But I know what you mean....This poem was quite easy to relate to since this period in my life is exactly as described. And I thank you for sharing this with us,it's always nice to have someone describe feelings that we sometimes just can't.You have an immense talent, making each verse so vivid with emotions, kudos to you on such great writes,
