I lie down to go to sleep for the night,
but I can't seem to drift off.
It wasn't because of the bright street light,
or even an annoying cough.
There was no leaky sink,
or any noise from a tiny mouse.
I got up to get a drink,
it was silent in my house.
The only thing keeping me awake is you,
and the thought of us forever being apart.
Without you in my life I don't know what I'd do,
one thing's for sure, never again would I give away my heart.
Never again in my life will I care for someone as much,
it just wouldn't be the same.
No one else could replace your loving touch,
or even come close to becoming what you have became.
You've got all the love my heart can give,
no one else is getting through this door.
With you is when I truely live,
you're the reason I was put here for.

| Well, well, well...it's about damn time that you've written a poem, and i guess time that i finally comment! Anyway, I reallly enjoyed the first two verses! Great flow, and it kinda reminded me of that xmas story...not a creature was stirring not even a mouse...i like how u incorporated ur street light, and ur poor annoying cough, i'm surprised u didn't include ur train! Awesome write!! And i'm sure u'll open ur heart again...u better, it's not fair to shut all the doors completely ;) xoxo Tanya |
