Scars

Contributed by Evening_Star on Wednesday, 2nd November 2005 @ 01:37:50 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

There you are standing in the doorway
Staring at me with hate in your eyes
Yelling at me with anger in your voice
I know what's coming
There is no where for me to hide to escape your anger

You grab me by the throat and slam me against the wall
Trying to squirm out of your grasp
You squeeze me harder
Making me gasp for air
You yell at me with inaudible words
It's all just a blur

I can hear somebody calling my name from far away
It gets closer and closer
Finally I regain consciousness
Groggily, I look around not recognizing where I am right away
I am lying on the kitchen floor
There is dried blood caked in my hair and blood all over the floor
My friend is squatting next to me
Helping me to get to my feet
She cleans and dresses my wounds and washes my hair
We get in her car and drive away
I look back at the house and see him standing on the porch
That was the last time I ever seen the house or him

By now the cuts and bruises and gaping wounds have healed up and long since left my body. I still have scars upon my mind and sometimes the slightest memory will reopen them making them fester and bleed. And you ask me if I have scars.

Great write, it is unfortunate that too many will know this pain

It's such a common thing these days, most people don't get out, and it just escalades to unstopable means, from personal experience I can say the longer you wait, the worse it gets, they don't change. It's good to see you got out, more people should. Great write, emotion felt and truthful.

This is a great write. Power shines through. We all have scars, I am only sorry that yours are ones that even after the heal, the can re-open so easily. I hope with time, the scars close tighter and never open again.

...oh, precious one...it hurt to read it...I have four daughters and a big daddy heart...I sure hope there are many around you to hug and kiss the pain away...

...you've got me crying...

...I offer you my "daddy's love..."

Scars like this last a lifetime. A powerful, sad and emotional write. That's the sad truth with cases of physical abuse. May your heart strengthen and heal from the scars that you bare.
*heartfelt hugs for you*
