HAPPY EIGHTEEN

Mommaw held you first.
Was so happy my heart almost burst.
Your Mom had tears in her eyes.
In hearts we all silently cried.

Happy eighteen, oh Micky dear.
You've become a man, I declare.
Happy, happy, happy eighteen.
On your own now it seems.

You taught me 'bout angels, grandson.
My grand child, yeah, very first one.
You've started your career now.
You'll go far and, how.

So mammaws heart sweels with pride.
Deep down luv in us resides.
You've grown into a handsome man.
Never let go of abiding hand.

God will protect your soul
No matter, where ever you go.
Always remember luv is greatest of all.
Just luv when you hear it call.

4-eva luv,
mammaw

How wonderful for you all, Emy. This is so beautiful. I know that special love for the grandchildren. My eldest (twins) are almost 13. Good boys, smart and handsome with the world in their hands. God bless them each and everyone. He will cherish this forever, I feel certain.

hugs,
Rita

A very sincere and heart-felt expression of your love comes through in every line of your well-constructed poem. I enjoyed reading.

Grrrrrr...I tried to comment on this earlier today, and then the site crashed. My oldest nephew is 18 : ) It's amazing; not sure where the time goes...
You sound very proud of him, as I'm sure he is of you. I hope you plan on sharing this very sweet dedication with him...

Happy birthday to your grandson. Beautiful, your poem is a picture for sure.. 1st or sixth.. all beautiful..took me way back to the time when my first granddaughter was born...would you believe I was more nervous than my daughter in law was.. my little grandchild was so small, her mom had a hard pregnancy, hard delivery, they tightly wrap them up into tight bundles of joy, she was so small, I feared she had no legs, but she was whole, thank the Lord.. I smile as I read

*******You taught me 'bout angels, grandson.
My grand child, yeah, very first one.

Happy, happy birthday sweet eighteen..

First my friend let me say hello and sorry I haven't posted anything in what seems like years but as you know life is a on going road that never ends. As usual, you have made that thing in my chest called a heart move with your well written, well crafted works of sheer greatness. Thank you for sharing and while I have you here, I might as well tell you...That my real name is Darnell Brown and I am the author of “City Limits”, a poetry book that I’ve written (go to www.citylimitsthebook.com to check out my site, there’s a place where poets can get their work posted exclusively on their own page and maybe dedicate it to someone) One of the reasons I posted this message is to let you know that I’m starting a magazine called “When The Pen Hits The Pad” and it’s going to be a place where artists, by that I mean more than just poets but writers, scriptwriters, painters, photographers etc. where they can have their work out there for people to see and possibly put them with people who can help them get to where they want to go. If you are interested in being a part of our first issue, send me and email to thewordzwithin@yahoo.com and tell me what you think and what you want to summit Tell all your friends who might be interested and keep up the good work!!!!!!!
