Two Temples and A Shrine.

Contributed by bhav on Tuesday, 21st January 2003 @ 05:40:00 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Siddhivinayak Temple (Mumbai, India.)

I had come once to seek your blessings,
But had to return seeing the rush,
Once again I came and this time there was no rush.

You are famous as Shree Siddhivinayak,
It feels like the whole of Mumbai converges
On Tuesday’s to seek your blessings Shree Siddhivinayak.

With your blessings, your devotees have seated you in a temple with a golden dome.
Seeing your orange coloured idol full of flowers and gold ornaments without even asking I realized that you have heard my wishes.

Your greatness cannot be described in humane words,
Oh! Siddhivinayaka forgive me, but this humble poet cannot describe something, which is heart felt but cannot be put in words.

Babulnath Temple (Mumbai, India.)

To reach till your abode,
108 steps was the climb,
climb full of deities until I reached your abode.

The convergence of devotees near your idol is worth seeing,
even a flower, which touches your idol, is termed as a blessing.

People chant your name loud and clear,
The father of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva you are so close to your devotee’s that they have nothing to fear.

Visit to your shrine has made me feel very humble,
so very simple yet so aesthetic .
Greatness of your shrine lies in its humbleness,
blessed is what I feel after visiting your temple and seeing its humbleness.

Haji Ali (Mumbai, India.)

Your shrine is in the sea,
blessed is my life that I could come,
your purity and Sufism is here for everyone to see.

It’s said from your shrine no one goes empty handed,
everyone’s wishes are fulfilled,
the sea represents the infiniteness of the wishes you have fulfilled.

It’s destiny that I could make it and seek your divine blessing’s Baba Haji Ali,
What more can I ask for?
Just keep me happy Baba Haji Ali.

Thanks, Jessica saini. Glad to know that you liked my poem, which was a change from the poems, which you have read till date in the religious section. Temples are just like churches the feeling is so very divine and holy when you enter, the atmosphere in there just seems to grow on you.

Thanks, Oreo .if I have made you see beautiful images through my poem then I have succeeded to a large extent in conveying what I felt when I went to the places mentioned in the poem. India, the more you talk about my beautiful country the lesser it is .it was my pleasure to share the beautiful images of our temples and shrine with you.
