She Is Us
He dreamed,
perhaps imagined...
He called to her,
and together,
they entered their daughter's room;
she slept,
softly breathing,
so softly,
innocent and vulnerable,
cloaked in shadows not of her own creation,
her form indistinct,
but pulsating with preciousness.
He asked,
"Do you Love her?"
With not the slightest hesitation,
not a nutrino's mass of reserve,
her heart known reply was an unchallengeable,
"Yes."
For many moments,
the silence only broken by three hearts beating,
and three souls gently breathing,
they savored their Love for this precious child.
"She is Us,"
he continued.
"We cannot Love her well,
except we Love Us."
Silence.
Their little one shifted,
letting a small sigh escape her lips,
then settled again,
soft moonlight whispering across her features.
For some moments more
they drank her in,
then left the room with much work to be done.

Dear Enigma,
Perhaps this one was too precious to touch; the message so sharp and penetrating none dared grasp its meaning. Love; the role precious children represent in relationships is so sacred, none are willing to lower their guard so as to comprehend their meaning. Children are chatel, an inconvenient reality and best held at arms length. Oh well, I got the message and I shall have to be satisfied with that.
My Love and respect is yours,
ron...enigma |
