Talitha Coum! (Arise Little Maid!) - Jesus Raises Jairus' Daughter

Contributed by Elizabeth_Dandy on Saturday, 29th October 2005 @ 07:28:42 PM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

Thalitha Coum! - and Jesus gently bent
Upon the sickbed to arouse the maid,
And touched the small and dainty waxen hand,
And bade the somber shades of death to fade.

This only child these aging parents had,
Snatched up by Tanatos about to reap,
Their cherished little girl on the bed,
Whose wondrous eyes were closed in lasting sleep.

"Talitha Coum! - maid look into my eyes!
Wake up my child and do no longer sleep-
Look at your Savior child, awake and rise!-
Smile- let your parents no more weep"!

The one that stopped the mighty storm and gale,
With one word only,- stretching forth His hand;
Now bade the salaried mourners stop their wail,
And halt their dirges and their funeral chant.

He made the taunting mourner crowd disband,
And bade the dazzled parents to take heed
To dwell in grief no longer, but command
To bring the child for strength some food to eat.

Oh Jesus, Lord! - be merciful we pray,
When we are stretched out cold upon a bier.
That we will see your eyes divine and hear:
“Talitha Coum! - wake up child! - I am here!”

Luke 8:49

Dearest Elizabeth: beautiful, just beautiful... He loves us so much, look what He has done, all the more things He can do for each one of us, our Dear sweet Lord, loves us so, cares deeply for us. My prayers are always to say to Jesus, I will do all I can to help you, for them to some how open up their hearts to see His light, His pure love, He uses me daily, and until my work is done here on earth, only will He take me home... this is a lovely story from a beautiful lovely writer...who Jesus loves and smiles upon to remind us, to teach what He has done, and what more He will do..forever and ever, amen..

Elizabeth, I first found you in stories. I have been reading through some of your poetry this morning- amazing!!! You bring back memories of bible stories I had heard as a child- but with more detail. Brought to life they are with your words. Peace, light and love.......never stop writing!!!......Sara
