Killing your own mother

Contributed by XxNights_ChildxX on Friday, 28th October 2005 @ 09:45:39 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

I give you everything you need, in order to survive,
And yet you continue struggling, just to stay alive,
I provide you with life, creatures and plants of many,
But you turn around and kill them, needlessly by the plenty,
My grass use to be greener, the trees more tall,
I’ve tried to find the answer, but then I lost it all,
My skies are slowly blackening, Im suffocating slowly,
My forests being cut down, destroying all my beauty,
Everything I’ve created, and everything I have done,
All to be demolished, the battle has been lost, not won,
So I watch helplessly, the life that you take for granted,
The once pure waters of the ocean, have now been tainted,
My surface once so ravishing, no longer holds the same allure,
For my body is intoxicated, with chemicals so impure,
The sun is burning stronger now, through my once blue skies,
Melting all of the icy glaciers, so start saying you’re goodbyes,
My air is filthy and obscured, not as fresh as it use to be,
Soon enough it will darken, and you won’t be able to see,
When will you realize that what you are doing is wrong,
Im weakening and breaking down, and now Im not as strong,
Indescribable, intolerable destruction, the pain beginning to smother,
When will you finally wake up and see that your killing your own mother?

This poem was powerful and amazing. I wish people acted like they actually cared about the world they are destroying. I dont think people realize that we're gonna run out of water in about 30 years... probably less... anyways, great poem!! I'm glad to see someone else who cares!!
