Tears On Mother's Day

Contributed by Debz on Tuesday, 21st January 2003 @ 08:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I wish I could stop crying
If only for one day
I don’t care what started it
Just make it go away!

I’ll play at being happy
Yes, that’s what I’ll do!
Nobody will notice
Least of all you.

I’ll do it for my children
I’ll keep those tears at bay
I want them to be happy
On this very special day.

They woke with such excitement
They simply couldn’t wait
Wrapping presents in their room
but they left it in a state.

I can feel the tears returning
Oh please, no, not today!
I don’t want to spoil things
Not on Mother’s Day!
