Plastic

Plastic

You were so beautiful to the sight
And I couldn’t t stop thinking about you when I struggled through the night

I couldn’t tell spring from fall, pain from bliss
And I did not notice that your blood did not exist

Why couldn’t I tell that although you had petals, you did not have a scent…
That I could touch you, but that you could not be bent.

I remember that day that I saw you from afar… so fair, yet so strong… yes, I still feel.
I feel like a fool, for thinking something so perfect could be real

I recall when I would place myself next to you and I would suffer at your touch… so cold
I see now why I sensed that you would never age old

And then that day, that day I left, I noticed the most horrid of things that may come to mind
Something so atrocious that I cursed at my self for many years for having looked past it
That night that you laid still with your eyes glancing up at mine,
I saw your soul, and it was made out of plastic
