Family

Father,
You are my Dad,
I am Your child...
We've had our conversations.
We've had many more quiet times.
We've agreed on lots of things,
and disagreed on many others...
still,
we're family.
Some things You do make me happy.
Some things You do leave me sad and disgruntled.
Sometimes,
though,
it's the things You don't do
that annoy me.
I'm sure that's true of me to You,
too!
Mostly,
I think,
it's poor communication.
Either someone's not talking very clearly,
or,
someone's not listening very carefully,
or,
someone's jamming the air waves.
Maybe all three!
Whatever,
I'm sure we agree,
it could be better;
But,
that's always true of families,
isn't it,
Dad?
You are my Dad,
and though I may not act like it sometimes,
I like it that way.

Hmmm, honestly, I would say this was very poetic, but I still think it is rather good, for what it is.

I understand this, very much, and I think anyone who has a Dad who they love will understand it, too.

A very sweet write,
*hugs*

Father/son relationships are very complicated, much like mother/daughter relationships. You encapsulated the complexities very nicely.
