Smiling to Forget the Pain

Contributed by bobotheclown on Thursday, 27th October 2005 @ 02:54:11 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

I glimpsed you in the mirror
For not more than a second,
But in that second I saw...
So much
You laughing and making jokes
As you sliced at your wrists
All your pain was met with laughter
The cutting, drugs, rape, rejection
I guess it was your way
Of hiding your terrible pain

And one day you couldn't hold it inside
Your head just... exploded
I remember that day well
The painful sense of loss
The tears that wouldn't stop
I never saw the gun
Still clutched in your pretty hand
(It was only mentioned after,
at your funeral, to paint you as the bad person)
I only noticed the blood
That stained your pretty frock

But before they took you away
And cleaned off the walls and floor
I bent down and kissed the remains of your face
I smelled the sour stench of death,
But even in death
A faint wisp of a smile
Still graced your serene face

Joel, this is so very sad. It got me teary eyed in the end.

Its simplicity was powerful enough for the person to fell your words. This was really really good.

Hope you'll be back soon.

Jane~

too bad bobo

but you have failed miserably ...
not only in your pre-statement
but also with your horrific poem as well ...

i am going to read more of your poems
whilst youre gone ...

but that was your sardonic intention, huh?

aside from that ...
this poetic gore-romantique is really well written

(and more than just faintly reminiscent of
something i once put down)
