Twenty-two miles.
Mexico is too far to consider. Arizona is a day away.
The sands beckon elaboration.
My voice is dry.
My voice is a sunken husk steering the horizon.
I thirst; the sands thirst with me, stalk quietly behind me.
The sun begins.
The sun begins. I begin to speak.
I have a dream slithered up the base of my skull.
It is a wounded grace babbling over wasted space and pain.
It is ***** all demanding the lie;
the salt stirs my skin; stirs my hair; begins to increase.
It is always a lie.
The canyons tell prayer, fallen in the depths of the sea.
The mountains sell dust and fire crawling to our fear.

i agree w/ Dri, i especially like how you tie different things into the the twenty two miles theme, i know that sometimes what i want seems so close yet so far away, great write. |
