Schizophrenic's Delight
Once again the wisp of a dream
has settled upon my brow.
Like many peaceful nights of old,
it settles upon my brow.
Many peaceful nights of old!
Dreams!
Just fanciful dreams!
But,
non-the-less,
the dreams return...
I cherish my world of dream...
A world of dream
is reality,
to one as lonely as I.
It comforts the soul,
and muffles the sighs
of one as lonely as I.
It softens the heart of a hardhearted man,
it melts,
it warms,
it fills...
it brightens the nights of solitude,
many a whim it fulfills.
But,
it is empty,
like so many things
in this polyglot world of ours.
A dream is a riddle,
a waste of time,
in this world of clocks and hours.
So,
me and my dreams,
will mosey on down
to a world just over there...
a world where dreams are reality,
a world that waits,
just over there.

Sounds pleasant. The contrast with the word "Schizophrenic" which is seen as *not* so pleasant is thought-provoking. Better to dream maybe, than be disappointed with reality in any way. Anyway, I like it. Took me ... somewhere else.

I kind of enjoy the haphazard design of this poem because it reflects the..hmmm whats the word...disorganization? in the mind of someone with schizophrenia.
I'm not sure if that was done on purpose, but it adds a nice touch |
