Innocent Enough to be Trusted

Contributed by Alliee on Monday, 24th October 2005 @ 06:09:44 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

Bringing their empty jars with holes in the lids;
Flashlights; blankets; and a smile upon their faces
Meeting at the elderly red oak tree,
On the abandon dead end road

Old enough to go out and party
The youth in them takes over
And play as if they were still ten
Brings joy to there growing hearts

The humid summer nights are spent with best friends
Catching hundreds of fire flies
Playing hide and seek in the dark
Just sitting there gazing at the stars

Find out new secrets; Laugh at the old jokes;
Tell scary stories eating warm smores
Frightened by the wind howling outside the tent
Yet you can’t but laugh at your favorite joke

Funny boys and giggling girls sleep there
Innocent enough too be trusted
All best friends like one big family
It’s nearly three in the morning and they fell asleep

Dreams of each other run through their minds
Restless sleep is in its absence tonight
Sleep is just a way to pass time
Till the sunrises and more fun awaits

Morning comes and a crisp breeze brushes their cheeks
It’s August and fall is around the corner
School is starting soon, homework and all
They‘ll miss the summer nights they spend together

Nicely done,
