Hunter and Prey

Contributed by wordpoet on Tuesday, 21st January 2003 @ 12:40:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

The blood of my soul runs from my eyes and gently down my cheek,
While the legs that once supported me have suddenly grown weak.
I tremble softly to and fro as breath flows to my chest,
The life I live seems worthless now, so barren from this crest.

A forsaken land is where I dwell, like this road I travel on,
My hearts true path a memory, now that all my hope is gone,
But looking back I see your face, such beauty to behold,
A shame the love that I once had is slowly growing cold.

If only you could capture me, be hunter, I’ll be prey,
And gain the strength to bring me down, don’t let me get away.
But alas the seasons come and go, as winter settles in,
The hunters bow is put aside, the chase did not begin.

But if one day you’ll draw the bow, take bead upon my heart,
And be the hunter once again, it’s then the chase will start.
I’ll keep you running for a while but in the end you’ll win,
Your prey will keep you satisfied, the way it should have been.
