purple lights
string
wired up on the wall
hot tea pushed to the point of toxic
by sugar
I’m wired again
thinking too fast, too loud
talking to myself
the room is dark, the floor is cold
the walls are gray
I’m far too old
for my delicate days
spent spinning around
the sun
this music is beating
the neighbors can hear
I know
the bass trembles through
their curtains
I’m intruding
I’m sucking down the tune
and I can’t stop screaming
the lyrics
come on, come on, come on
no one gets it
no one cares
I want the scent of bleach
in your shirt again
mud splatters on a button down
with a vase
of sunset in your hand
because they reminded me of you
I love the way you jump when I
whisper the slightest thing
down your neck
you turned it up so loud
the seats vibrated with
the force
I am like a string, plucked
resonating with the sound
