I cannot leave, to let fall upon the dust and shadow of my heart, his memory.
His laughter is the hollow night riding across the plains.
I cannot put him out. I cannot strip him lash him braid his hair.
His tears are the fires of my breath, I breathe and I am consumed.
I cannot find in my heart, the still and sudden flutters that steal my love from me.
I cannot find, in these words, the violent shaken stole that hangs in sobs across my chest.
It is too great a risk, my love, that I might love.
I am damned to a world that will not understand.
In all the puzzles of your heart, I am the reflection of yourself.
I am the darkness lingering over the morning bay, the light providing the shadows of the moon, and you will never understand.
I find her hand. I find her fingers. I find a flower to kiss her knuckles whole.
I press my temple to her breast and rest upon the sounding of her heart.
I lift her. Her hips are the stars beneath the sea. I take her arms. Her hair is silence falling over broken mountains. She is beautiful.
But I cannot find my love for her.
