For Her Tenth

Baby child
Young woman girl
Emotions all
Whirled together
In a gentle
Hurricane.
Sweet, lithe,
Heart holds tightly
Onto her roots,
Her home around her,
Her home inside.
Yet her mind
Desperately wants to
Fly free;
Body thin but
Sturdy
Graceful, singing
Songs to her own
Soul, and she is
Pleased.
Dances hand in hand
With her smiling
Spirit
Dreams twenty-four
Hour works of art
That are sometimes
Misunderstood
Confused in her eyes
As to why,
And nothing stops
Her as she
Makes her way
Her own way
Through the wilderness
Of the modern world.
Animation stilled
For a split second,
Long enough to
Sleep,
Sweet young face
She wears now,
And will keep forever,
As my heart she
Keeps
Forever.
