im at this point in my life
im sure you all know what im talking about
the place where reality
and life
hit you straight in the face
(with a sledge hammer to say the least)
its a shock
(to stick my fingers in the outlet)
and i hate the feeling of
realizing (i need to change something
under the face you see
is another
and another
and yet
another
i love masks
they soothe me
but now im looking in the mirror
and i see that they are melting
and scarring my face
(which seems is melting with them...)
how do i escape
a room without doors or windows
i know
by sitting in another room
without doors and windows
but then im stuck at asking again
how do i escape
when my escape leads me
back to the place i began not so long ago?

Oooh! Very nice poem, abnormalpunk.
It describes my life well. I certainly know how this feels.
I say, use that sledge hammer and pound your way out! ; ) |

i liked your first two stanzas the most. after that your stanzas and verses seemed to lose their power and transition to a different tone. i liked the perspective, but sometimes the rephrasing of certain things would just counteract the flow of thoughts, making it sort of choppy, which i dont think work for this poem all that well. |

Reality and life hits you in the face (with a sledge hammer). Yeah, been there! lol We cannot run away from ourselves. We can try, but it never works. Escape is futile!
The structure of this write is quite different, but I like it. (I like playing with the structure of poetry) Keep up the good work. Peace to ya.
