LEARNING FROM FAILURE
How many times have you failed?
your dream train derailed?
Sometimes we failed
and we can't even recall.
As a tottler we tried to walk,
our legs went awol.
Yet we pulled ourselves up again,
like proud old Scotsmen.
We hadn't learned the word fail yet,
nor learned that failure meant regret.
Wee ones keep their eyes on the goal
trying and climbing each knoll.
Your bicycle kept throwing you off
walking was no tradeoff.
Flying your kite in strong wind.
retrieving it from high wires.......
Did we quit and give up?
Nope--nothing dampened our desires.
As we matured we heard "Failure"
it was implanted like a dirty word.
Taking the blame for our shortcomings
and from then on censored.
Fearful came next, afraid for fear
they'd see our mistakes,
Pride follows fear and soon
not even trying, no more retakes.
Try, try again the saying goes,
creases in your brain, big furrows.
Tis better to try and fail
and bare the shame
than not to try and bare the pain.
Taken from the writings
of Sherman Finesilver
US District Court Judge.
The poem is mine,

I am a horrible control freak. If I feel I failed something I keep on till I master it and I never start something if I am not sure I can finish it because it would drive me crazy, lol. I think I am halfway there anyway. Great poem, Connie.
Love,

Just Perfect. and Absolute Truth
I love George Clemenceau's quote.
“A man's life is interesting primarily when he had failed –
for it's a sign that he tried to surpass himself.”
So very true.
Have we forgotten that somebody else was a considered a big failure - even by his own.
"He was a social failure" (The Disciples on the Raod to Damascus.
Is'nt it an honor to be failure.?
Thanks for Sharihg ConSue. Lovely write!
Warm love
Elizabeth

Great poem with a great message. Loved the pics, especially the last one. It's too bad someone thought up the word "failure". Write on, LC.

Yes, just watch a child, they fall down, and pick themself up, over and over again. They have not learned what failure means yet.
Sometimes adults will put them in a high chair, or a crib, or one of those walkers, or playpen, then the child cries their hearts out, because they are locked up, when they want to explore.
We try to keep them safe. Watch over them, protect them, let them keep trying, so later on, they will understand, if they fail, they can try again.
