Its eight am and the first bell rings
Reminding you of that summer day
You spent sitting outside the Roman Cathedral
The day was nothing but white silence
Even with the tourist snapping shots
Of the great remains of self destruction
And young kids screaming
Oblivious to the history they are becoming
White silence is what kept me from hurting you
From locking you in the tear
I wore on my neck.
The church bells rang and played a song of nostalgia
And you told me about how when you were barely seven years old
You found god in the sprinker at Phillip’s Park
I read you the story on my palm
About how nine years of Catholic schooling
Has made turned me into a whore just like the rest
Its five after eight am and the second bell rings
You walk into my period one, Honors English I
And whisper so everyone hears: The Aztecs did more than just battle
