Pledge of Allegiance

Contributed by EVERxSOxSWEET on Thursday, 20th October 2005 @ 08:01:30 PM in AEST
Topic: political

Flag raised high, we stand to pledge our allegiance.
We recite the words we've been brainwashed to repeat since before we knew the alphabet
Who really thinks about what these words mean?
What we're pledging our allegiance to?

We're pledging allegiance to a country that lies
A country that steals
That kills.
We're pledging allegiance to a country with no morals.
We're selling ourselves out.

So next time you rise and put your hand to your heart,
think about what you're saying.
Don't just brainlessly repeat the words you think you're supposed to
TAKE A STAND. THINK FOR YOURSELF.

awesomely penned and with such truthfulness too, but the book still reads the same...too many of our fellow americans wander mindlessly into such ignorance and never question a thing..sadly

Wow, can't be truer. I sometimes think America has oft had its sacrifices. But I think the ugly side shows more. Great poem, great words, inspiring thoughts.
