Long Ago and Far Away

Contributed by Alliee on Tuesday, 18th October 2005 @ 05:51:42 PM in AEST
Topic: mystical

Long ago and far away
Lay a beautiful sunset upon the crystal bay
Colors stretched from coast to coast
Its beauty haunts her mind, like that of a ghost
Its reflection colors the dead trees of winter’s cold
When the snow melts, more magnificence will unfold
Soon enough, the spring season leaps into her arms
Sparkling in her eyes like brand new charms
And soon dusk will come, tardy and with warning,
That wonderful sunset is what she dreams about ’till morning
Passionate pink, pretty purple, exciting yellow,
And sassy orange together forever so mellow
Every night she sits so solemn and in tears
Waiting for the gorgeous sunset to appear
To her surprise, the sun never set
She just saw the dreadful silhouette
Of the sun behind the darkened clouds
She is trying to find a lost loved one in a crowd
The one happiness in her life was gone forever
Depressed she’ll stay, never again happy, never
Long ago and far away
This land is dead all night, all day…

The title is familiar, but I have no idea what it reminds me of.
Oh well. This is GREAT, Alliee!
I definitely love the sensory imagery.
And the personifcation of spring leaping into her arms.
I see the colours you speak of.
Too bad the land "dies" in the end.
But it is a BEAUTIFUL poem.
: )

Had to read this as I have a poem with the same title.
This is absolutely breathtaking!! I loved it... even tho the ending was a bid sad...
Well done!!
