The Outside trees are now without leaves
Their branches bare and empty
Their leaves golden brown are scattered all around
The fluffy white clouds high in a crystal blue sky
are slowly passing by
Above the rooftops in a quiet forgotten town
Listen hard and you can hear a small voice alone and crying .
Its getting cold and the autumn wind blows
But it matters not to those inside for their houses have no windows.
Just darkened shacks painted black
With no lights on or addresses
And from one dark shack I heard a sound
A wee small voice was praying
Make my Mommy come back soon
She told me Just stay inside
and don't make any sounds
I will come back again
But the little sad girl just can't help wondering
what was going on
Outside
When she stuck her little head out
The autumn wind was cold
As it gently kisses her cheek mixed with the scent of winter
She took a deep breath and took as much as she could in
She walked on the crunchy grasses
She bends and feels the dried up leaves
But she doesn't walk far from the shack
She was told she must not leave
Her Mother left her there alone
So very long ago
And as she walked in awe staring up at the sky
The white fluffy clouds just contuined to drift on by
Taking shapes of Lions faces and a gaint Eagle
Some even looked like sheep
How wonderful she thought
as she smiled and laughed with glee
But then suddenly she heard a sound
She turnt herself around and made a mad dash
back to the safety of the shack with no windows
She approaches the door and slides to the floor
Its dark and cold and damp
No lights allowed on as she pulls her worn blankets tighter around
With a fist full of dried leaves in her clenched small hand
Some had crumbled because she held them so tightly
She watched sadly as they turned to dust and
Fell back to the ground
She thought for safe keeping
She would press the yellow and red ones and light greens in a book
And keep them forever to remind her of the adventure she took
This day she went outside
In the fall time and the dark nights they seem to come early
Days too seemed ever so short without the sun.
But she has her little secert and it gave her such courage
Enough from just one look
She will have better luck next time
If she dares step out again
She will search for her Mother
and things will be get better
with time.

Poor little girl who has lost her mother - the most precious thing in her life. I hope she forever gets out of her black shack and enjoys new life. I like you poem a lot. It has deep meaning. |
