Darkened Room

Contributed by unforgiven on Tuesday, 18th October 2005 @ 06:49:55 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

In this quiet, black room I sit,
Thinking of what once was.
The moonlight catches the glint,
The tears flowing down my cheeks.

Now that I think it all through,
I see where I went wrong.
It always happens that way,
Always too late when you realise.

I fell hard for you too soon,
You said my name and I became lost.
I thought we meant more,
Guess I should have asked you.

You became the light in my eyes,
The reason for my joy.
You mended my broken heart,
No reason to cry any more.

Then you started to drift,
No longer answered my calls.
I watched with terror filled eyes,
You disappeared from my view.

How dare you look for an casual thing,
Why did you not say?
Was I that overbearing on you,
You couldn't stop me and explain?

So now I'm left to wonder,
Where you've gone and how you are.
While I beat myself up inside,
For showing you my heart.

I sit in this darkened room,
What was once filled with light.
I sit, stare and think,
Wondering if it will ever be light again.

I think we've all been there, just realize it'll be hard but you can move on, and once you do, that room will start to gain light again. Best wishes for the future. Great Write.
