Silent Wings

My past is like soft silent wings,
They seem to me of many things,
My heart is old,
Or so I’m told,
My soul is weak,
As that I seek:
A love so true,
To fight the blues,
But silent wings they beat away,
My hopes and dreams and all I say,
I’m in a room that has no doors,
Nor windows, nor floors,
I’m in a house that has no roof,
Nor walls, nor proof,
In this house my secrets lie,
And there they’ll stay until I die,
When silent wings bring them gone,
And Death sings my whole life’s song.
