the Beautiful Pain

As a grey fog covers the land
A single spark drifts from the sky
There are no answers where it’s from
There is no telling when it dies

These fragments of my empty thoughts
Separate the burning desire
Expiring flames like lovers
And exposing gods as liars

Now all I am that I could be
Just a shadow for your glory
Or the ending to your story
Either way it’s just you and me

(And that’s how I wanted to be)

I’m almost completely dead now
And most of what is left is gone
The only part that’s still alive
Is the one part that still holds on

Like summer I recall your light
Burning bright through the darkest sky
I can’t forget rocks in my side
During the fireworks of night

And though the frost is on its way
Memories are engraved to stay
I’d give it up for one more day
I just wish you could understand

It’s dreams like these that bring me low
Its nights like these that reach my soul
Its holes like these that take their toll
Now I can’t be here anymore

(I can see that open door)

I’m almost completely dead now

Is the one part that still holds on
