Clouds bear their deepest gray.
The brightest flashes,
Drain the light from the day.
Pungent smell of ashes leads the way.
Wind beating back my hair.
Rain stinging my half opened eyes.
Bending back the trees without a care.
Making the outside an unsteady world.
Thunder growls its might roar.
Leaves shiver, turning inside out.
The storm shakes all to its core.
This is no night to be out in Katrina’s wake.
