Deepest Thoughts

Contributed by The_Phantom on Thursday, 13th October 2005 @ 07:33:47 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Forgive me my Lord, the words I speak are vendictive and sore,
The truth shall set you free, if so why must the world lie to me,
Why are my brothers dying, why are so many roiting,
Why do I see blood on my hands, why must life be lost upon this sand,

Where are the letters from home, why do I feel so alone,
Why can't I sleep, why must I be the minster of peace,
Why must I walk these streets, why must my soul bleed,
Why must I see the faces of death, holding a fellow soldier as he takes his last breathe,
Why do I cry at night, why do I stay in the fight,

Why must I be prepared to die, holding a picture of my wife as I sit here and cry,
Why does my heart still beat, why am I called a murderer and freak,
Why hasn't God answered my prayers, is this the cross I must bare,
Why havn't I been taken, after this war will my soul be foresaken,

Why do I still write, is it worth the sleepless nights,
Is this the only way I can speak, rhyming my words like some souless beast,
Am I as evil as they say, could tomarrow be my last day,
I guess the answers will never come, I guess I'm the ghost formally known as Phantom.

Forever Faithful
The Phantom

You are just doing a job, if you don't someone else would have to. Either be in a position where you can decide what is ethically and morally correct and do what is right or just follow orders and trust others(or god?) to make those decisions for you. Life is much more complicated when we ask 'why', sometimes accept things as they are. Play your part as best as you can. Let things bother you only if you intend to do something about it.
