What Matters

I don’t know why I feel the way I feel.
I don’t know how long it will last.
I don’t care if my head is spinning
I won’t know until it stops if I’m dizzy.
Why should I wonder if I’m sick
Things that don’t matter
those are the ones hurt.
The things that are important
are things we overlook.
I don’t bother the Goddess on her day off
I don’t wonder bother the saints on their retreat.
I don’t wonder if God or Jesus or Mary
Are just the fad religion of the week.
Because the things that are important
are the things we overlook.
And the things that don’t matter
are the ones that always hurt.
I don’t ask if you love me
nor do I want to know.
I don’t ask why there’s lipstick on your collar
I don’t ask if you hate me
and want to betray me.
I just want to know
if you’ll pay the rent.
And I know they don’t matter
because I’m hurt
and the important issues are being overlooked.
But if I could see
what was important to me,
why would I be wasting time.

Good poetry. WRITE MORE.
And internalizing the worst things works...until you get thrown into psychotherapy, or commit suicide, or lash out. You HAVE to face the big problems instead of overlooking them. |
