Stranger Glance

Contributed by mangos on Monday, 10th October 2005 @ 08:10:49 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I think I am ugly
But has she too made the same mistake
Does she need someone to talk to
Does she ache like I ache

A complete and total stranger approaches slowly
From a distance I could hear her laughter intimately
I judged her posture and passed judgment on her security
A voice that could bring peace or disaster so unwittingly

Why when you turn your head do I think of her not you
This was once a lonely park bench, now she obscures my view
Now I am shaking and shivering in my pants,
As the air turns icy cold from just one strangers glance

Erratic in that the surprise engagement
Was abrupt, and sporadic
The charm was explosive, waiting to erupt
Charismatic
None of it overly dramatic
It wasn’t love
Love is tragic
More like intense
I was impressed
Such eagerness
With candor and openness
Honesty about her dreams and perversions
How has a love story become such a pivotal diversion

I think I am ugly
But mabey only on the inside
Has she made the same mistake
Does she ache like I ache

I think we all go through that on one level or another. itry not to build relationships in a romantic way, because I want to know the person as a friend first and that takes time . Then i can avoid glances and be in love with the person i am with. (It is harder to do than to say.)

I used to think I was ugly as could be, on the inside...Probably at the time, I was right. Not no more though. Now I have become the person I've strived to be. Your time will come too, and we continually gain wisdom anyway...and that's true beauty. I'm sure I don't need to tell you I find parts of this poem relatable. Besides the aforementioned, that is...I like the honesty in this write. It's refreshing.
