In that moment

Being stared at by droopy eyes
their lives must be so lonely
If only they could speak their thoughts;
Cutting retorts at presumption
and consumption of sweet meat!

The dogs dripple as I eat
Seated by the Old Oak tree
Three various breeds
Breathe heavily and wag
Sagging tails in lost hope.

The breeze in the copse
Is soft and gently warming
and a swarm of assorted birds
Disturbed from verse have just noticed
Most of this meal is going
To those showing attention to me.

The dogs are looking strong
They belong to the small farm
'Palm Meadow' a little down past
The fast river just out of view
So who's on 'walk&play' today?

It was her. She came calling them, worried
Hurried forward when she saw
Four boys and the birds finishing
Dishing out the days sandwich treat
From the seat beneath the Old Oak.

She wore a light flower patterned skirt
To match her shirt that blew around
To surround her beautiful shapely form
I became torn between my shyness
and wryness when faced with a chase.

She smiled at the scene and giggled
I wriggled inside under her gaze
The days of confidence are gone
Replaced by the song of silence sung
Since I was stung by the last blast.

The shyness won and I can't look
She takes the dogs on their way
'Please stay' my inside voice bellows
But with more 'Hello's I might recover
From the lover who messed my head so.

This is very nicely done. It truly makes one stop and think about what you're saying here and the imagery itself is just wonderful. It flows smoothly, its creative, deep and most importantly, its inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

Take Care
