Oh God, I wish to hell I was not here this day
to witness with my eyes the price we have to pay
for bodies of dead men lay strewn across the field
some with limbs, some with none, but all lay still.
I look over toward the east to the endless scene
men going forth over fields that once were green
advancing slowly amid the noise and the clarion call
I see the shells, the bullets, I can see each man fall.
The harshness of the reality has struck me numb
for no one had warned me of what was to come
they put a gun in my hand, filled my head full of lies
taught me to kill, then they waved me goodbye.
I put my hands over my eyes to block the view I see
unbalanced I fall forward to the ground, to my knees
I lay shaking, scared within this battlefield torn
I curl up like a foetus in a womb, yet to be born.

War is hell, and the imagery you have given conveys the sense of death, and perhaps rebirth.
Thank You..
