Shards of Glass

Contributed by anitajames on Friday, 7th October 2005 @ 08:30:47 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

My life is littered with shards of glass.
Each jagged piece reflecting the past.

Pieces of loves never forgotten.
I remember them all with fondness and longing.

Pieces of joy bring smiles and laugther.
Remembering the dream of "Happily Ever After".

Pieces of pain giftwrapped in betrayal.
Never forgetting the lessons they carried.

Leaving me now with a life that begs to be cleaned.
But I can't sweep away all these pieces of me.

I relate wholly to this piece. There are things we wish to be swept away, but doing so would remove pieces of ourselves just as you said. I find it amazing that you've said so much with just a few lines. Thoughtful write.
Blessings, J.

I wrote a poem 5 years ago called "A Different Role" that spoke of this subject in a different light. In it there is a lesson that i need to continually learn and that is the constant need for restoration sweeping our problems away never helps us to be the best that we can be it only makes us forget the pain that should refine us and help us to help others. The poem i am speaking of i have not posted yet but i will tonight, inspired by your poem

What a remarkably outstanding poem you have written dearest Ann. Absolutely flawless.
I can so much relate to it. 5 big dazzling stars for you.
*hugs*
Sue
