With Dignity

Contributed by strider on Thursday, 6th October 2005 @ 03:46:02 AM in AEST
Topic: fictional

I have been cast in lonely shades
For company I have but this churlish place
My home has been taken from me
I must confess I had a hand in it
Had I not been so kind and free
Had my thoughts not been so generous
Had the liquor not untied my expression
They may not have spied my intention
And its knowledge used for their ill plot
Now I have been removed from my spot
They have all but one of my possessions
My wife? She took part in this odious act
Dignity that’s one they could not bribe
It stays with me and together we abide
For we shall arise again
And my kingdom we must regain

Strider~

This piece was like a enchanting bit of folk lore...
truly amazing to read. I love the last four lines.
They stand out in bold of the rest. Wonderfully
executed thoughts, strider. An utter delight!

i like this poem a lot
and also the last 4 lines

i am a little confused by the word "expression".
does it mean a facial expression, a verbal one, an emotive one,
or in your knowing, which the liquor disarmed and
revealed, leaving you open & vulnerable?

either way, this is a wonderful poetic parable
of the self and justice ...
