I Won’t Fear Love

Contributed by Darkhorse71 on Tuesday, 4th October 2005 @ 01:23:48 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I made my peace with misery
my friend who won’t betray;
but then you came into my life,
I don’t know what to say.
Starting over’s never easy,
new hopes and dreams to find;
to have to leave my special shell
as up this hill I climb.
To turn my back on my old friend
and crumble it to dust,
is as hard as any break-up;
I’m scared to have to trust.
But emptiness is not for me
I need to have that friend
that I know I will find in you;
I won’t fear love again.

Comfortable is the best state to be in, surely you mean complacent?

If one gets too comfortable or complacent they quit striving for new horizons and just go along with the flow. To my way of thinking that is not a good thing. Thanks for your input.

The flow sweeps along without a hitch, very nice. I understand what you mean by 'comfortable' and it seems like the appropriate word to me. Being comfortable in some circumstances really is 'dangerous'...absolutely! In this case, being (formerly) comfortable in your fortress of misery was indeed a danger, to your well being and love of self. Now that you've found someone who you're willing to venture out of that 'comfort zone' for, it's great! Someone who cares about you, can only help you in the long run. So good for you for 'climbing that hill.' All the best, and you conveyed your honest feelings rather well in this piece. Nice job.

Scorp.

Excellent Write. I realy enjoyed this piece of work. How well you sang each verse. I feel you. Sometimes we can get lost in ourself and how much I agree with your sentiments of
"Comfortable is a dangerous state to be in"

Comfortable is easy, but easy isn't always right!

I fled from this before it sunk me in and took me over and much like you enjoyed the moments of finding someone to cherious.

Your poem made me reflect on my previous way and to enjoy my new findings of companionship.

Lovely write, thank you for sharing with all on YPDC.

Keep writing
SweetRyhthm
