The Stupid Knight

Contributed by ginsdance on Wednesday, 24th July 2002 @ 08:30:37 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

My knight in shining armor...
Ummm... Well... he's lost in the forest.
Twidling his thumbs
Thinking up a brand new chorus
To songs that he has sung to exhaustion
While looking for me...
I swear, he hasn't a clue...
Sitting all day on Ebony
His snow white steed
Looking for ways to find his way to me.
So far, that Stupid Knight
Has only gotten more and more lost...
Until finally, Ebony, annoyed
Went and bucked him off.
I found his horse this morning
Eating grass in my front yard...
I s'pose if I follow the horse
Finding him shouldn't be TOO hard.

I simply love this, I really do. I have been shining my armour for years but it was the horse I lacked to carry me where to where I was supposed to be. -This brought a smile to my face.
Superb!
Regards
Terry

Hi again ginsdance,
Having just read "Fairydust" I was expecting big things from you.....I wasn`t expecting to wait in line to read this poem.....170+ readers so far and climbing! I`m in the presence of a poetry pop star.
Anyways...this is very good also. I like your sense of humor. You`re quite the story teller.
Don`t know if I should make a reservation to read your next poem or just take my chances.
Good work Jennifer. Thumb

This is the kind of poem I'll probably have to read about twice a week to put me in a good mood! I like the original theme.
I've always thought of humourous poetry as not being my thing and have often cringed at pieces marinated in cliche...but this one was refreshing and I'd like to thank you for inspiring me to write some of my own. Thanks for the read,

Phildel

This is a classic. I loved the mocking humor. A guy names a white horse called Ebony? That's great.

Gindance, you really deserve a pat on the back for this type of thing. I mean, it's so ribald, so funny and refreshing, you deserve 4 pints of gin to your health! God save that poor luckless lummox of a knight.

The paradoxes and the reinvention of the old cliched 'knight in shining armour' makes this worth a read.

Please review the last 2 poems ("" & "Sunday Morning")that I will be submitting tomorrow evening and tell me what you think. Afterwards, I won't be writing much, but if responses are good then I'll send in another.
This Chinese New Year, I'm doing an epic fantasy poem based on the synopsis and libretto of a Mozart singspiel.
